Top photo: This pair of garters is in the collection of the Milwaukee Public Museum, detailed information is in Alanson Skinner's "Ethnology of the Ioway Indians".

Bottom photo: Melinda Carriker notes, "This is a piece I had children and adults help me make at our museum to teach about beads and designs. This is done with the loom-free beading technique, artificial sinew, and French glass beads size 4 mm. The design is based on a pair of Ioway garters at the Milwaukee Public Museum."

Thanks to Melinda Carriker, Ioway Farm Supervisor, Living History Farms
